Fished Dry Meadow Creek again on Sat. In search of some of the larger fish we got into last week. Weather was much cooler, mid 70's, and quite windy, all along the Kern and above Johnsondale. Not as many bugs out, and some clouds developing over the western ridges. The water seemed a little off color, perhaps it was because of all the people camped there. There was some kind of group there, "Pacific Primative Rendevous". All had canvas tents and teepees, dressed in 1800's garb. Must have been 150 separate tents or teepees, and folks running around in buckskin frontier clothes. Did you see the PBS SHow "Frontier House"? That was what was happening. No picture this time out, we didn't catch anything photo worthy. We did land about 10 fish between us, nothing bigger than 8 inches. Most were caught on a BH Hare's Ear, a couple on a Griffith's Gnat, a couple on an ant pattern, a couple on a Renegade. No visible surface activity, although Karen did see a couple of fish "salmon-ing" up stream over a small waterfall. We hiked out to the "Edge of the World" kayak falls to take a look a the 7 Teacups. The view from the top is magnificent, and you are close enough to the Kern to see people walking on the River Trail. We stayed there, just taking it in for about an hour. I had wanted to fish the section just above the falls, but did not get a chance, it was getting late. The Kern itself is settling down nicely, much lower than last week, and clearing up. Matt
