Hit Salmon Creek again on Sat. the 7th. Good weather, warm and with thundercells developing in the PM. Took the road past Horse Meadow, and around to the Salmon Creek Falls trailhead. Doing that cuts off about 2 miles each way to the falls. Hiked down to the creek, about 45 minutes. The creek in the canyon here is VERY overgrown, not much rrom to cast. We did find places to fish, mostly pools with openings in the brush, roll casts and bow-and-arrow casts were th order of the day. Karen was using a Griffith's Gnat, and I used a Grey Hackle Peacock and a BH Hare's Ear. The fish were very cooperative, we landed about 35 between us in the 1.5 hours of actual fishing time. Most were between 7-10" with the largest (the fish in the photo) at just over 10.5". Went to the end of the trail, I decided to do a little boulder hopping, to get t the falls. After about 20 minutes, I stood on the edge, surveying the Kern river canyon and Greenhorn Mountains to the west. Took a couple of photos, and headed back down to the creek. I fished a couple of the granite pots, and took a few nice fish out of the holes, including a 9" brown. Found a good run, and had hits on most every cast, and landed about 8 from the one run alone. Great fishing, awesome scenery. Matt.
